American Academy of Pediatrics, CA Chapter 3 will be holding a new lecture series, Sex, Drugs & Rock 'n' Roll on Adolescent Health topics.
At the inaugural Sex, Drugs & Rock 'n Roll lecture, Drs. Kumar and Cius will discuss everything you always wanted to know (but were afraid to ask) about adolescent contraception. Following brief didactics, they will facilitate a roundtable discussion with participants to answer questions and discuss tough cases related to adolescent contraception and sexuality.
Maya Kumar, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician and adolescent medicine physician, serving as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at UC San Diego and Rady Children's Hospital San Diego. Dr. Kumar has a special interest in adolescent sexual health and gynecologic care (including contraception and menstrual problems) and the importance of a trauma-informed and developmentally-appropriate approach to these sensitive issues.
Elizabeth Cius, MD, is currently serving as the Department Head of Adolescent Medicine at Naval Medical Center San Diego and Assistant Professor of Family Medicine for the Uniformed Services University of Health Services. Dr. Cius has a special interest in adolescent reproductive health care, including contraception and menstrual irregulalrities.
The Chapter's goal for the Sex, Drugs & Rock 'n Roll series is to bring you up to date information on adolescent medicine each quarter.
