This course will address the complexities and challenges that teachers, treatment providers, case workers, guardians ad litem, CASA workers, foster and adoptive parents, and law enforcement staff face when attempting to understand and address many of the sexualized behaviors high-risk and traumatized children display. The primary focus of the training is on children who have experienced disruptions in healthy sexual development and therefore manifest a wide range of sexualized behaviors, from reactive to problematic and abusive.
The day will begin with a overview of what constitutes healthy and expectable sexual behaviors and move to discuss the continuum of sexual behaviors that children display. This course is highly interactive with opportunities to discuss scenarios you may have experienced.
