Directions

From North of Providence: Take Route 95 south to Exit 19, Eddy Street. Bear left on the exit until you come to a stop light. At the light, turn right onto *Eddy Street. At first set of lights, take a right onto Dudley Street.  Women & Infants is approximately 0.2 miles on right.

*Recommended parking (see below) is located 0.5 miles down Eddy Street on the right side, just past Public Street.

 From South of Providence: Take Route 95 to Exit 18, Thurbers Avenue. Bear left on the exit ramp. At second set of lights, turn right onto *Eddy Street. Proceed on Eddy Street to the second set of lights. Turn left onto Dudley Street. Women & Infants is approximately .2 mile on the right. 

*Recommended parking (see below) is located 0.5 miles down Eddy Street on the left side just, past O’Connell Street.

Parking Information
Complementary parking will be provided for conference attendees at the hospital's employee parking lot located at 775 Eddy St. (highlighted in yellow on the map below). There will be an event parking sign located at the entrance with an officer posted there to greet attendees.  From there, a shuttle service will be available to and from the hospital.

Presenters:

Albert Marshall Ross, IV, MD 

Dr Ross was the founding Hepatologist of the Children's Mercy Hospital Liver Transplant Program in Kansas City and is currently the Director of Pediatric GI Endoscopy at the Hasbro Children's Hospital in Rhode Island and Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Brown Alpert Medical School.

Laura Viehmann, MD, FAAP 

Dr. Viehmann enjoys practicing general pediatrics in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. She also sees mothers and babies for breastfeeding consults. Her dedication to promoting breastfeeding has earned her recognition in the state and at the Academy of Pediatrics.  She is currently the AAP Rhode Island Chapter Breastfeeding Coordinator. 

Kathleen Moren, RN, IBCLC                                                                                        

Kathy is a the founder and owner of Healthy Babies, Happy Moms Inc., a licensed and accredited home nursing care program specializing in lactation support. She has enjoyed a 25 year career in home health, corporate consulting and the NICU and is currently a Teaching Associate for the Dept. of Family Medicine at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

Paul J O'Brien Jr. DC

Dr. O'Brien practices Sacro Occipital Technic chiropractic with all ages at Bayside Chiropractic in Providence, RI since 2000. He has advanced training and certification in pregnancy, Pediatrics and Pediatric Cranial Treatment, He is a member of the Rhode Island Birth Network and regularly treats pregnant/postpartum mothers and newborns for feeding and sleeping issues as well as other concerns. He is a current member of SORSI, the governing body of Sacro Occipital Technic in th US. 

Meghan V. Schaffer, DC

Dr. Schaffer practices Sacro Occipital Technic at Bayside Chiropractic. She treats pregnant and postpartum mothers and their babies utilizing gentel and effective methods. She is advanced certified in SOT and has advanced training in pediatrics and pediatric cranial treatment as well as Webster Technique. 

Martin A. Kaplan, DMD

Dr. Kaplan is a Pediatric Dental Specialist who has been in active practice since 1977. He has been an adjunct clinical instructor at Tufts University, School of Dental Medicine on a volunteer, part-time basis since 2005. He has lectured at several professional meetings and discussed infant laser frenotomies in Beijing, China. 

Rosemarie Bigsby, Sc.D., OTR/L, FAOTA 

Dr. Bigsby has worked as a pediatric occupational therapist , educator and researcher for over 30 years.  She is Coordinator of NICU Services for the Center for Children and Families, Department of Pediatrics, Women & Infants’ Hospital, and Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Psychiatry & Human Behavior, The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She is a Fellow of the American Occupational Therapy Association.  She has co-authored a number of journal articles and chapters, and a text book for NICU therapists:  Developmental &Therapeutic Interventions in the NICU.  Her research focuses on motor development, behavioral cues, physiologic regulation and feeding in early infancy.

RISNA:  This continuing nursing education activity was approved  for 6.25 contact hours by the Rhode Island State Nurses Association, an accredited Approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.  Such approval is valid for a period of two years.

IBCLE: Application for CERPs has been submitted to the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners.

CME: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of Women & Infants Hospital of RI and The Rhode Island Breastfeeding Coalition.
