This training will help clinicians understand the Seven Challenges Program for adolescent services. The training will explore each of the Seven Challenges and application to the lives of young people with drug problems, to motivate a decision and commitment to change - and to support success in implementing the desired changes. Participants will understand how the Seven Challenges simultaneously help young people address their drug problems as well as their co-occurring life skill deficits, situational problems, and psychological problems.
Presenters: Cathy L. McClain, MA, LPCC-S is a licensed supervising professional clinical counselor. She is currently a clinical supervisor at Clermont Recovery Center. Cathy has more than 16 years experience working with clients on a variety of challenges including trauma, sexual abuse, personality disorders, alcohol and other substance disorders, depression and anxiety. She has worked with children, adolescents, and adults. Cathy’s professioanl activities include adjunct faculty at Southern State Community College – teaching Human Services Procedures and Methods and Crisis Counseling. In addition, she has presented at the Eastern Communication Conference 2011 on Advocacy As Power: Educating, Equipping and Empowering Students and the International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry 2011on How does regional stewardship influence the learning associate’s commitment to civic engagement?.
Michelle Bullis graduated from Brescia University, in Owensboro KY in 2003 with Bachelors in Social Work. Through her professional experience Michelle has over nine years experience working in the social service field. Michelle has worked with adolescents, young, adults, adults and families in a number of settings. After graduating Michelle began working at River Valley Behavioral Health in the company’s Children’s Psychiatric hospital gaining experience in Mental Health services through direct client care and working as the hospital Habilitation Therapist, providing therapy groups to the residents. In 2004 Michelle began working as a Family Preservation Therapist with Brighton Center in Newport, KY. This position involved working in homes and in the community with families at risk of losing custody of their children to the state due to abuse or neglect. This involved in home skill building, crisis counseling and therapy to families in crisis. In 2010 Michelle began working at Clermont Recovery Center as an Adolescent Counselor providing group, individual and family counseling to adolescents in the intensive Day Treatment Program. Michelle is currently licensed in the state of Kentucky and Ohio as a Licensed Social Worker and also holds her CDCA in OH.

Counselors ,Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists: The Child Focus, Inc. Training Center is approved through the Ohio Counselor and Social Worker Board. This program is offered for 3 clock hours of continuing education for counselors, social workers, and marriage and family therapists. Psychologists: The Child Focus, Inc. Training Center is approved by the Ohio Psychological Association MCE program to offer continuing education for Ohio psychologists. This program is offered for 3 clock hours of continuing education for psychologists. Child Focus, Inc., 00PD-3109-52668, maintains responsibility for the program.
Clermont County Teachers: A request for 3 clock hours of continuing education units/professional development hours has been submitted to the Clermont County Educational Service Center. Attendee must complete a Request for CEU form (which will be provided the day of the training) and return to Child Focus, Inc. Training Center. The CCESC will mail the certificate of hours to the address listed on the completed form.
Clermont County Board of Developmental Disabilitites: A request for 3 clock hours of continuing education units for this program will be submitted. Attendee must sign in on the Clermont County Board of Developmental Disabilities sheet.
