At the completion of this 2 part series, participants will be able to identify, prevent, intervene and develop a behavior plan to address challenging behaviors in children. 

  • Participants will learn strategies to use to reduce the chances of challenging behaviors.
  • Participants will explore the difference between skill development and skill performance as it relates to social and emotional development.
  • Participants will learn of three behavior planning models and apply their knowledge to a behavior plan which could be used with the children they work.

If you attended Part 1, you will have a better understanding of Part 2. Part 1 explored the Contrast between developmentally appropriate behavior and how it deviates from typical development, factors contributing to challenging behaviors including trauma and elements of prevention, intervention and ideas for supporting and communicating with families. 

 

Nicolle Moore, MS, IMFT, is Coordinator of Mental Health in Early Childhood Child Focus, Inc.  She is responsible for a team of therapists and consultants working in Adams, Brown, Clermont, Hamilton, and Highland counties.  In addition she works as a Master trainer that is funded by the state of Ohio as part of the Whole Child Matters Grant and is responsible for consultation with all types of early learning programs.  She provides training for early learning professionals and parents in social/emotional development, challenging behaviors, early approaches to learning, and trauma informed approaches.  Ms. Moore has been working at Child Focus since 2008 and has over 13 years experience working with a variety of at risk youth in many community settings. 

 Continuing Education                                                                                                                                            Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists: The Child Focus, Inc. Training Center is approved through the Ohio Counselor and Social Worker Board. This program is offered for 3.75 clock hours of continuing education for counselors, social workers, and marriage and family therapists. Training Center is approved by the Ohio Psychological Association MCE program to offer continuing education for Ohio psychologists. This program is offered for 3.75 clock hours of continuing education for psychologists. Child Focus, Inc., 00PD-3109-52668, maintains responsibility for the program.
