Dear Distinguished Community Member,

The Greene Scholars Program is excited to announce our 22nd Annual Science Fair.  The goal of the Science Fair is to motivate and stimulate the interests of all scholars in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.  Scholars will conduct different types of Science Fair projects in the following categories:  "Traditional Hypothesis Driven Projects" (investigated the effects of changes or answers the question "Why?") or "Science Expo Projects" (Robotics or Computer Science, Invention, or Environmental Innovation).
Our GSP program continues to grow.  There are 150+ scholars participating in the Science Fair Program and we need as many volunteers as possible!  We are seeking individuals from a variety of professions such as teachers, administrators, scientists, engineers, corporate careers, etc. This is a great opportunity to network with a cross-section of individuals in a variety of fields participating as volunteers.

There are two opportunities to help our scholars:

Science Fair Review Board – November 4, 2023

  • In our Science Fair Review Board Session, you will have an opportunity to meet individually with our 3rd-10th grade Scholars to discuss their proposed Science Fair projects and provide insight and suggestions on how the Scholars can strengthen their projects.
  • Joseph Weller Elementary School, in person at 345 Boulder St, Milpitas, CA 95035

Science Fair & Expo - January 27, 2024
  • The GSP Science Fair is the key cornerstone of the GSP program. Volunteers are given scientific judging criteria and work in teams to evaluate Science Fair projects and Scholars' presentations.
  • Emmanuel Baptist Church Family Life Center, in person at 467 N White Rd, San Jose, CA 95127
  • Please note, community judges and volunteers will be required to complete a background check prior to participating in the Science Fair & Expo.
We welcome your participation in either or both of these activities.

In order for GSP to continue programming at a high level of excellence requires continual investment by people like you – who believe in our focus on increasing STEM engagement for African American youth.  Every dime is appreciated and helps the Scholars develop their Science Fair projects, attend summer science institutes or math academies, offsets the cost of workshop materials, provides for tutoring and other enrichment.  Whether or not you are able to volunteer, please consider donating at https://www.greenescholars.org/donate

Thank you in advance for providing a valuable service to our scholars. We look forward to seeing you at our event.
