Mitzvah Day schedule of events:
9 - 11:30: Religious School
10:45 - 12: Check-in and receive your Mitzvah Day t-shirt
11: Mitzvah Day Service (for all grades and Mitzvah Day participants)
11:30: "Be the Match" event for Bone Marrow donor matching registration (prospective donors have cheeks swabbed and provide contact info - No Fee Required). Click here for the Temple's personal connection.
11:30– 12:15: Join us for brunch, provided by Brotherhood, followed by the Mitzvah Day group photo
12:15: Leave Temple for projects sites
12:30: Projects begin
Below is a list of potential projects:
Sunnyside Ministry Repackaging Food: Come and repackage beans and rice into one pound ziplock bags for families who need emergency assistance or are suffering financial hardship.
Second Harvest Food Bank Stocking the Pantry: We will be sorting and salvaging donated foods to help the food bank prevent perfectly edible food from ending up in the dumpster and redistribute it to hunger relief agencies
Hospice and Palliative Care Meal Preparation: We will be preparing and packaging meals for delivery to hospices so that however long a person has to live, every moment can be nourished with nutritious life-giving food
Botherhood Brunch: We will be preparing, serving, and cleaning up brunch for the Mitzvah Day Participants
The Shalom Project: Organize and clean clothes and food pantries
Ronald McDonald House: Prepare dinner for families at the house. Minimum age is 12
El Buen Pastor Latino Community Services: Deliver Mitzvah Bags (to site on Monday)
SECU Family House: Closed - registration full. Three group projects;organizing library; cleaning kitchen; make cupcakes and decorations for valentines day
Crisis Control Ministry: Volunteers will stock shelves and do other indoor tasks, as needed, in warehouse
ABC of NC: General cleaning, disinfecting toys and organizing play and other areas in the school
Highland/Temple Food Pantry: Assemble and decorate birthday bags for families that shop at the food pantry. Children can decorate each bag with birthday wishes.
Forsyth Humane Society: Organize and clean ROVER van and other adoption center needs
H.O.P.E. of WS: Volunteers will join BBYO to pick up supplies at The Children's Home and deliver lunches to kids at Neighborhood Centers.
