The Adult/Adolescent Sensory History is available now! 

The culmination of years of research and work, the Adult/Adolescent Sensory History, is designed as a self-report assessment of sensory and motor behaviors commonly observed in individuals with difficulties processing and integrating sensory information. The purpose of this assessment is to help identify adults and adolescents ages 13 to 95 who experience problems in sensory processing and integration as well as assist therapists in clinical reasoning when creating interventions for these individuals. Based on the conceptual model of sensory processing and sensory integration proposed by A. Jean Ayres, this measure is designed to identify difficulties in five key areas of functioning: Sensory Discrimination, Sensory Modulation, Postural-Ocular Skills, Praxis, and Social-Emotional Functioning.

Sound has been used across cultures for healing for thousands of years. This webinar discusses the history of auditory intervention and its application to occupational therapy practice. It will describe the impact of sound on the nervous system and the body to support the development of foundational and higher-level skills including regulation, auditory processing, coordination, and social skills. A review of current auditory intervention programs available to occupational therapists will be provided as well as information on the evidence on the use of sound intervention programs.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this webinar participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the history of auditory intervention
  2. Identify ways auditory intervention can be utilize within occupational therapy practice
  3. Describe the relationship between auditory interventions and sensory integration
  4. List available sound intervention programs

About the Speaker: Jen Dulz is a Registered and Licensed Occupational Therapist. She earned her Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from Washington University in St. Louis. Jen has extensive experience working with children and their families within the home, school, and clinic in Alaska, Colorado, California, and Massachusetts. She has completed the Sensory Integration Certification Program (SIPT) and is also a certified provider of Therapeutic Listening. Additionally, Jen has training in DIR/Floortime and visual vestibular-based treatment techniques.
