The Adult/Adolescent Sensory History is available now! 

The culmination of years of research and work, the Adult/Adolescent Sensory History, is designed as a self-report assessment of sensory and motor behaviors commonly observed in individuals with difficulties processing and integrating sensory information. The purpose of this assessment is to help identify adults and adolescents ages 13 to 95 who experience problems in sensory processing and integration as well as assist therapists in clinical reasoning when creating interventions for these individuals. Based on the conceptual model of sensory processing and sensory integration proposed by A. Jean Ayres, this measure is designed to identify difficulties in five key areas of functioning: Sensory Discrimination, Sensory Modulation, Postural-Ocular Skills, Praxis, and Social-Emotional Functioning.

Interested in starting a small private occupational therapy practice focused on sensory integration services but don’t know where to begin?  From space and equipment considerations necessary for a successful sensory integration treatment space to documentation and HIPPA requirements, this webinar will present you with practical information and considerations to help you plan and set up a practice.  It will be helpful for the therapist who is thinking of going it alone to the small practice owner who wants to evaluate their practice.

Teresa A. May-Benson, Sc.D., OTR/L, FAOTA, Executive Director of the Spiral Foundation, is a well-known lecturer and researcher on sensory integration.  She has authored numerous book chapters and articles on praxis, ideation, and sensory integration and is a co-collaborator on development of the SAFE PLACE Program.  She has extensive experience with children and adults with autism and a diverse clinical background having worked in private and public school settings as well as private practice.  She is past Chairperson of the Sensory Integration Special Interest Section of the American Occupational Therapy Association.  She is the recipient of the Virginia Scardinia Award of Excellence from AOTF, The Alice S. Bachman Award from Pediatric Therapy Network, and the Catherine Trombly Award from the Massachusetts Association of Occupational Therapy. Most recently, Dr. May-Benson presented at the MEDA Conference in Newton, Massachusetts; her presentation focused on occupational therapy assessment and treatment that takes into consideration the sensory, motor and psychosocial components related to individuals with ARFID.
