The Adult/Adolescent Sensory History is available now!

The culmination of years of research and work, the Adult/Adolescent Sensory History, is designed as a self-report assessment of sensory and motor behaviors commonly observed in individuals with difficulties processing and integrating sensory information. The purpose of this assessment is to help identify adults and adolescents ages 13 to 95 who experience problems in sensory processing and integration as well as assist therapists in clinical reasoning when creating interventions for these individuals. Based on the conceptual model of sensory processing and sensory integration proposed by A. Jean Ayres, this measure is designed to identify difficulties in five key areas of functioning: Sensory Discrimination, Sensory Modulation, Postural-Ocular Skills, Praxis, and Social-Emotional Functioning.

Part One: Intervention for Sensory Modulation and Discrimination Problems

Part Two: Intervention for Foundational Mechanisms and Praxis

Presented by:
Teresa May-Benson, ScD, OTR/L, FAOTA

This course will be available from:
Thursday, October 10 to Monday, December 9, 2019

This course is Part Five of the five part Program of Essential Competencies in Sensory Integration. Learn more about the program HERE.

Essentials of Sensory Integration Intervention, Part One: Intervention for Sensory Modulation and Discrimination Problems

This course will provide participants with the essential information needed for treatment of sensory modulation and discrimination difficulties in children.  Intervention for foundational mechanisms and praxis will be addressed in Part Two.  The core principles of sensory integration intervention will be presented and specific intervention strategies for sensory modulation and discrimination problems will be presented.  This course is designed to teach therapists and other professionals the important foundational principles of sensory integration intervention. A combination of lecture, extensive video analysis and case study presentations will be used to develop clinical reasoning skills for intervention that can be used in the clinic, classroom, and the home.

This course, in conjunction with Part 2 of Essentials of Sensory Integration Intervention, will provide participants with a solid foundation for understanding and beginning to implement sensory integration intervention strategies with children. Parts 1 and 2 of the Essentials of Sensory Integration Intervention on-line courses are the equivalent of the 2-day live course.

Learning Objectives
By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  1. Name basic principles of sensory integrative intervention and how they apply to clinic, home and classroom situations
