PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

To enable persons to recognize the potential harm of materials used, stored and transported under the title of Hazardous Materials.  This is a basic program dealing with recognition and safety actions to avoid contact and harm.

OBJECTIVES

After viewing this presentation student will be able to:

• Understand the interactions between various regulations dealing with recognition and safe actions such as:
  1. Hazard Communication Standard
  2. Right to Know
  3. Globally Harmonized System (GHS)
• Recognize DOT Hazardous Materials methods of hazard recognition via:
  1. Labels
  2. Placards
• Recognize Materials of trade and International Symbols.
• Implement emergency actions using the Emergency Response Guidebook.
• Understand Safety Data Sheets (under the Globally Harmonized System).
