Skills and Methods for Contract Project Management

APICS Tampa Bay would like to our members and their colleagues to attend our February 2018 Professional Development Meeting from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 13th. This will be  joint meeting with the Florida Gulf Coast affiliate of the Institute for Supply Management (ISM).  

The session will cover an over view of the Contract Project Management Process and is designed specifically for the non-contracts and those Commencing Contract Management as a Career, and general business professional.

The Program focuses on delivering contemporary best practice information that will equip you to participate effectively in the contract process - in a way that you will find interesting and useful in your personal and professional life with basic insights and an understanding of contracting principles and the impact they have on both your business and personal life.

Topics we will cover are as follows:

  • The significance & role of contracts and contracts professionals in the world of business. Managing the contract on a project level. It doesn’t end at contract signing.
  • The contract management lifecycle & the elements essential to each of its phases. 
  • How to select appropriate approaches and tools from a broad range of contracting knowledge.
  • Creating Cadence in any organization is important. In the contract management group, it is essential.  
  • Demonstrating Value by being part of the Project Team.  
  • Risk Management examine basic contract risk assessment techniques.
  • The principles & process of contract negotiation.

Summarizing with the Effective post-contract signature delivery and operations, we will examine the steps that will help maintain cadence and strategies to implement if cadence is loss. We will examine the process and steps to become part of the over-all decision-making team.

Eileen Byrne-Halczyn, Ph.D., CPCM, C.P.M., A.P.P

Eileen Byrne-Halczyn, Ph.D., CPCM, C.P.M., A.P.P. is an independent contractor in Supply Chain and Contract Management supporting major Clients in Asia Pacific, and locally at the State level. She has 37 years of International experience in supply chain and contracts management with major fortune 500 companies such as IBM, CSC and Deloitte Consulting.

Eileen provides consulting services to both public and private clients with particular emphasis on contract project management, supply chain processes, complex negotiations, strategic alliances, process improvement, risk management techniques, training and executive coaching, as well as post-execution contract management.

Eileen holds degrees in both Psychology, Marine Biology at the undergraduate level,  and a Business degree at the graduate level (MBA and Ph.D.) in International Business with a concentration in Marketing.  Eileen is an expert in supply chain management (purchasing) and in structuring agreements and contract management procedures.

Eileen also teaches at the graduate school level. She is a lecturer in business and project management and Marketing and has served Adjunct Professor in several Florida Universities and Colleges where she taught marketing and other business courses.

Eileen is a member of ISM, NCMA, GBTA, IACCM, and NMSDC where she is a frequent guest speaker.

Eileen is the co-author of three books dealing with supply chain and contract management optimization.  She currently has a book (fiction) to be released in early summer on a “young lady’s transformation in the world of IT”.Eileen is a regular contributor to IACCM and ISM newsletters and other publications.

Eileen is a past President of ISM Florida Gulf Coast where while she was President they won “Affiliate of the Year” two years in a row.  She was also recognized as “Education Person of the Year” by ISM. Eileen is the past President of Florida Minority Supplier Development Council and has been recognized many times for her diversity contributions in the State of Florida and IBM.

Eileen is married to Robert, with a son Stephen, a daughter in law Brianna and a beautiful grandbaby girl Sophie who is 3 years old.  Eileen has 3 rescue dogs, 3 recuse cats, and 2 rescue birds.  Eileen is an advocate/volunteer for the voice of the “Voiceless Animals” assisting the placement of animals and being a voice to those animals that no one seems to hear. She lives in the Tampa Bay area.
