Stacy Smallwood, Entrepreneur/Owner of Hampden Clothing + JAMES at 314 King Street
Stacy Smallwood opened Hampden in 2007 to bring the most desired names in fashion to King Street. Stacy travels to New York, London, Milan, and Paris each season to stock her store with the best in established and emerging brands. Her ability to discover the season’s most covetable pieces makes her a respected fashion insider. A graduate of Vanderbilt University, Stacy worked as an assistant buyer and department manager for Neiman Marcus Corporate before moving back to South Carolina to open Hampden almost 10 years ago. She has collaborated with designers such as Tibi and Suno to create Exclusive collections just for Hampden and brought designers such as David & Marcus of Rag & Bone, Erin & Max of Suno, and Amy Smilovic of Tibi to create unique events for the Charleston community. With her expansive knowledge of the industry, Stacy hand picks a variety pieces each season to delight customers from New York to California. In 2012, Stacy expanded to open James, an accessories store adjacent to Hampden. The store, now at almost 5,000 square feet, is filled with a curated assortment of brands with a uniquely personalized shopping experience, and has been recognized as one of the top boutiques in the country by Vogue, Elle and Marie Claire magazines.
