Maryland State Flagging Requirements:
All workers performing flagging operations along Maryland roadways are required to have Flagger training and certification through ATSSA. Chesapeake Employers' Insurance is offering this ATSSA training for its private and governmental policyholders as well as for State of Maryland agencies.
Half-day training on July 31, 2018:
This half-day, classroom-based training is State of Maryland-approved. It will be held in the morning on Tuesday, July 31, from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm, at Chesapeake Employers' Insurance Company. The training will be conducted in English. The State of Maryland Flagger Exam (written exam) will be administered at the conclusion of the morning training and must be passed before the ATSSA Flagger card can be obtained. Additionally, in accordance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), students must clearly demonstrate the methods to signal traffic to stop, proceed, and slow down. Once achieved, the ATSSA Flagger certification is good for four years.
About the instructor:
Mike Barton, a Safety Management Consultant with Chesapeake Employers' Insurance, has been a certified ATSSA flagger instructor since 2002.
*There will be nominal charge of $22.06 per person to cover training materials.
