Chan Hellman is a Professor in the Anne & Henry Zarrow School of Social Work and Founding Director of the Center of Applied Research for Nonprofit Organizations. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Departments of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics for the OU College of Medicine and Department of Health Promotion Sciences for the OU College of Public Health.
Chan’s current research focuses on the application of hope theory. In particular, he is interested in how nonprofit organizations impact client hope and how hope is associated with positive goal attainment and well-being among those experiencing adversity and stress (e.g., child maltreatment, homeless, domestic violence, substance abuse). His publications have appeared in various scientific journals and book chapters. Additionally, he has presented his research at national and international scholarly conferences. Chan teaches at both the master’s and doctoral level primarily in the areas of positive psychology, research methods, and statistics.
A native of Oklahoma, Chan is married to Kendra, a Domestic Violence Therapist, has two children, and two grandchildren.The Oklahoma CASA Association is pleased to invite you to the 2018 conference, Voices for Children, May 4-5, 2018. This two-day conference is packed with great speakers and new information which will motivate and inspire while supporting and enhancing the work you do with children and families. Conference registration is open to anyone who wishes to attend (CASA, PARB, OKDHS, Law Enforcement, etc.) but seating is limited, so register early.
