There are many layers of information to consider when calculating wind uplift design pressures and the selection of a low-slope commercial roofing systems. While the process sounds straight forward, the variety of calculation methods and rating standards can present a daunting challenge for a roof system designer. For example, while building codes reference ASCE 7, there are multiple, slightly different versions, and ASCE 7-22 is on the way.
For this roundtable a roofing manufacturer’s director, experienced roofing contractor, forensic architect, and architectural specifier as moderator will discuss their experiences with selecting, specifying, and providing wind design for low-slope commercial roofing systems. Open dialogue from attendees to share experiences, lessons learned, and their approach to wind load design and selection of roofing systems is encouraged.
