Basic SWAT Operator Course

Location 1st Day:   St Paul Police Outdoor Range, 2621 Lynwood Avenue, Maplewood, 55119

This course is designed for the entry level SWAT officer. It is limited to 28 officers. The course will cover basic firearms, pistol and rifle (or smg), pre scouting locations, wooded and field searches, dynamic entry, slow search, breaching, distraction devices, chemical munitions, decision making, hostage rescue, critical thinking, documentation and SWAT specific report writing.

 Attendees should bring all their assigned gear to include tactical body armor, helmet, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, gas mask, assigned pistol, rifle or smg, breaching shotgun if available, radio/ communication devices, marking pistol, rifle or smg, 200 rounds of practice ammo for pistol, 500 rounds practice ammo for rifle or smg, “Force on Force” marking rounds 100 pistol 400 rifle or smg and PT gear.

The first day all attendees will take part in a 1.5 mile run and obstacle course. They must complete the 1.5 mile run in less than 16 minutes. The obstacle course must be completed in less than 5 minutes. Attendees MUST pass both to continue with the course, NO EXCEPTIONS.

On the final day a distance run will be held.

A second Basic Operators class is being tentatively planned for October 2013.
