2020 Virginia Rad Tech Certification Course

As you may know, the Virginia Podiatric Medical Association's Summer Scientific Meeting, including the Podiatric Medical Assistant's Program, has been canceled due to government regulations affecting the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.

However, the Virginia Rad Tech Certification Course will continue virtually.

The Rad Tech Certification Course will be held on Friday, August 21, followed by the examination on Saturday, August 22. The course will be taught by Blake Zobell, DPM.

Please review the following information very carefully before registering!
In order to hold this meeting virtually, every individual participating will be required to:
  • have access to an electronic device with a web camera (phone, tablet, or computer) on both days.
  • have access to an uncluttered workspace (table or desktop) during the exam, and the ability to show that space via web cam.
  • and photo identification to prove identity prior to the exam on Saturday morning.
We will be able to send exams to each participant who registers by Friday, August 14. We are also considering an option to take the exam, in person, at a date later in the fall, likely in late October in Richmond.

After registering for the Rad Tech Certification Course, participants will be sent a weblink to the study manual and Log Sheets. The study manual covers information from terminology and anatomy to radiation protection and equipment.  It is very important to carefully review the manual prior to attending the course and taking the examination. Those participants who have spent time reviewing the material, have a basic knowledge of foot and ankle anatomy, and have taken assisted X-rays in their doctor's office typically perform better on the examination. Please register early to allow plenty of study time!

Along with study manual, participants will be provided with Log Sheets with which to log assisted X-rays. Twenty foot views and twenty ankle views must be logged prior to completion. It is not necessary to take all 40 views prior to the course and examination, however, the Log Sheets are a required part of certification and must be provided to Dr. Zobell or the Executive Director in order to complete the certification process.

The Rad Tech Certification Course will be offered again in March 2021 in Richmond. The date has not yet been finalized.
Sincerely,

Jean Kirk, Executive Director
