Join Dr. Donna M. Beegle, and our Communication Across Barriers team as we work to create an army of Beegle Speakers who can assist in creating responsive, inclusive approaches to breaking poverty barriers.

You can become a Beegle Speaker if you:   

• Have passion for breaking poverty barriers and educating others 
• Have read See Poverty...Be The Difference
• Have completed the Beegle Poverty and Certified Coaching Institute
• Complete all the research and pre-work prior to the Beegle Speaker Institute (see pre-work requirements below)

About Dr. Beegle 

Donna Beegle grew up in generational poverty and left school at 15 to get married. At 25, she found herself divorced with two children, little education, and few marketable job skills. At age 26, she earned her GED at Mt. Hood Community College. She went on to study poverty, communication, and education and--within 10 short years--received her Doctorate in Educational Leadership. Dr. Beegle combines her lived experiences of poverty with 30 years of research and work in all 50 states and other countries to create a poverty-informed approach to breaking barriers. Dr. Beegle’s work has been featured on PBS, CNN, and media across the country. She was selected as a Princeton Fellow and won an Oregon Ethics In Business award. She was also chosen as speaker of the year for the New Mexico Bar Foundation. She has published two books, three curriculum kits, and developed a publishing arm of her company to allow others who are fighting poverty to get their work published.

Future of the Beegle Speakers

In 2014, Dr. Beegle began a pilot GoldStar Speaker program that has now evolved into the Beegle Speaker program. We currently have 24 Beegle Speakers and are working steadily to increase our numbers while supporting high quality leaders.

The January 2021 Beegle Speaker Institute will be the last one following our traditional GoldStar Speaker pilot model. Based on feedback from our customers and Beegle Speakers, we are making some exciting changes to the Beegle Speaker program with enhanced supports and links to resources and opportunities for presenting. Future Institutes will include exciting new features with additional supports and resources for growing your speaking career. More updates to the Beegle Speakers program will be added soon to our website.
