IAFR's "Refugee Ministry Foundations" training will be held January 12-16, 2020, in Farmington, Minnesota (45 minutes from Minneapolis/St. Paul). We know Minnesota in January is not everyone's idea of a place of growth and flourishing... but we promise to keep you warm and engaged in this interactive training event!
This training will take a deep dive on the reality faced by those forced to flee their homes because of hatred and violence. We will discuss the process of recovery after forced displacement and some crucial 'context clues' for ministry in humanitarian space. Our goal is to prepare you for fruitful and sustainable investment in the care and recovery of forcibly displaced people. Both those with prior experience and those with no prior refugee ministry experience are most welcome.
After framing our discussions with common terms and a global overview of the issue of forced displacement, we'll examine the following topics:
All of these conversations are focused on principles and best practices of refugee ministry, allowing you to apply them as needed in your context.
