WisdomWay™ First Step Commitments Training

Spend a day in a restorative setting, exploring what it means to be a “mindful caregiver.”

The WisdomWay™ First Step Workshop is an introduction to the Compass of Mindful Caregiving. We’ll explore the 4 domains of inquiry and practice and how they apply to caregiving in both a professional and personal context and we’ll emerge with the Commitments of Mindful Caregiving: Aims for an approach to caregiving that sets the path for sustainability, resiliency and compassion/self-compassion.

WisdomWay™ offers a path for the caregiver that can lead to better outcomes for those we serve, and supports new possibilities to truly transforming our healthcare system. The tools we share and the ways we practice opens up new possibilities for caregivers to be in more meaningful connection and more satisfying and sustainable tenures as caregivers.

Join us in safe and nurturing environment in which to explore the heart of caregiving.

Participants will be able to:

  • Explore the WisdomWay™ method as it applies to their caregiving roles both personally and professionally.
  • Celebrate our passion and heart for caregiving as we transform it into purposeful action
  • Recognize the warning signs and stages of burnout and compassion fatigue that all caregivers are at risk for experiencing
  • Practice the skills that we can cultivate to buffer these risks

The First Step Commitments Training: Do I need to have a meditation practice?

The only pre-requisite is an interest in learning how to bring greater awareness to how we relate to others, how we listen, how we support, how we serve as an advocate or ally.

This workshop will be helpful for those who have a daily meditation practice or to those who are new to or unfamiliar with mindfulness practices.

What is the WisdomWay™ Method and the Commitments?

The WisdomWay™ method is built on 4 Domains of inquiry and practice.

They include:

  • Skills and Knowledge:  Not only what we need to know as a professional or personal caregiver, but how we use our skills and knowledge in empowering ways
  • Right Relationship:  When and how to step into the roles that will be of most benefit with awareness of what is needed, our role and scope, and holding in awareness the contributions of others
  • Partnering: maintaining skillful connection, collaborations and mindful communication with others, facilitating change processes instead of directing them
  • Compassion/Understanding: practicing skills of compassion and exploring obstacles, such as bias
