NNJAMFT Presents! Domestic Violence: An Understanding and Treatment Approach 

The Northern Chapter of NJAMFT is pleased to present a compelling and timely workshop entitled: Domestic Violence: An Understanding and Treatment Approach.  

MFTs and LPCs, earn 6 CEUs!

Domestic violence is a pervasive social problem that is often not recognized or addressed.  It is difficult to understand the complex experiences of survivors.  This interactive, experiential and didactic workshop will help attendees understand the dynamics of domestic violence.  The workshop will explore batterer tactics, the power and control wheel, and the cycle of abuse.  Attendees will learn effective intervention strategies to support victims including the practice of safety planning within the context of the empowerment model.

About our Speakers

Jill Zinckgraf, MPA is currently the Executive Director of the Domestic Abuse & Sexual Assault Crisis Center of Warren County.  She has been working and/or volunteering in the field of violence against women since she was a teenager. Over the past 35 years Jill has focused on the cultural impact of domestic violence and sexual assault as institutional violence and the consumption and production of inequality. Her focus has been on the empowerment model of moving those impacted by interpersonal violence forward, as well as advocating and inspiring the future generation to reduce the violence against all people.

Ava Schlesinger, LCSW is currently the Clinical Director of the Domestic Abuse & Sexual Assault Crisis Center of Warren County.  She is also a founding member of the NJ Coalition Against Human Trafficking and very active in the movement both clinically and legislatively to end Human Trafficking in New Jersey. Over the past 15 years, Ava has developed a clinical expertise in the area of sexual assault, trauma and dissociation. She is deeply directed toward innovation in direct services, advocacy and grass roots efforts in the arenas of human trafficking, poverty prevention, economic justice and human and women's rights.  

Pamela Drager, LSW is currently the Community Outreach Coordinator of the Domestic Abuse & Sexual Assault Crisis Center of Warren County.  She received her Master’s in Social Work from Rutgers University in 2012 with a focus in Direct Clinical Social Work and a Certificate in Violence Against Women and Children.   Over the past 5 years, Pamela has focused on increasing awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault to youth and the community.  Her focus has been on community education relating to understanding interpersonal violence, how to interact with victims, and primary prevention
