At Joshua Tree National Park, which straddles the Colorado and Mojave Deserts in southern California, hotter and drier conditions are chasing species northward and uphill from their habitat into cooler locations. Joshua trees have weathered many climate shifts throughout the existence, but never so dry and warm as what they may be facing now.
