Memberships with Interlibrary Loan Courier Service

Collaborating and seeking opportunities for libraries to work together has always been a major goal for MALA. MALA members have access to nearly 900 libraries in 9 states -- Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Colorado, Wyoming, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and New Mexico.

Mid-America Library Alliance Educational Affiliate Membership

Located in Independence, MO, the Mid-America Library Alliance (MALA) is an active consortia consisting of more than 900 library systems in 9 states. MALA was established in 1978 with a mission to "develop, coordinate, promote, and share information resources and facilitate professional development." MALA offers interlibrary loan courier delivery service (see below left), professional development workshops, and discounts to a variety of conferences. We also have a large library of webcasts and Library Espresso Shot tutorials.  Library Espresso Shots are short, 3-12 minutes tutorials on various library topics.

The Mid-America Library Alliance (MALA) offers an Educational Affiliate Membership. This membership allows individuals and organizations the opportunity to attend MALA's workshops at the member rate (generally a 50% savings), plus other member benefits.

  • Effective July 1, 2017, MALA PRO FLEX ONLINE TRAINING will be accessible to all MALA members free of charge.  FLEX (Foundation for Library Excellence) has been designed by library staff for library staff, with the intent of developing specialized skills and awareness of current and evolving library practices.  Categories of training include Reader’s Advisory; Basic Library Services; Programming, Trends and Community Engagement; Supervisor, Management and Leadership; Human Resources; Paraprofessionals; Health and Wellness; Computers and Technology; Library Displays; Children’s Services; Teen Services; MALA Courier Delivery and Interlibrary Loan.
