1st SENECA Youth Team Chess Event

The 1st SENECA Youth Team Chess Event is an unrated fun event for chidren in grades K-12.  Any group of 3 children can participate.  Pick a fun team name!  No USCF membership or club/school affiliation is required.  All players on a team that finishes in the top three in their section receive a medal.  Players may play up a section in order to participate with friends but no player may play down to a lower section than their age dictates.  Join us for the fun and competition!

FORMAT:  4SS, G/25 d5 Each board plays the corresponding board on the opposing team.  The combined team score (1 point for wins, 1/2 point for draws, and 0 points for losses) in that round determines the team winner.  There will be four unrated sections:

-AGE 18 and UNDER

-AGE 14 and UNDER

-AGE 11 and UNDER

-AGE 8 and UNDER

Students of any age may participate (up to grade 12)

Pairing of opponents will be determined by how you register your order of boards.  No consideration of rating points is needed, but once you determine the order of boards, you must stick to that for the entire event.

First tie-break will be team head-to-head, second tiebreak will be cumulative team points.  Standard tiebreaks apply after that if needed.

Sections may be combined if necessary.  All players play 4 rounds unless an odd number of teams where a bye would be possible.  Please bring chess clock if you own one.

DOOR REGISTRATION: At the door $60 entry fee. 9:00-9:45 AM. Round 1 starts at 10:00 AM. Others on completion of each round. Pre-registered players should confirm no later than 9:50AM.  Age 8 and 11 & Under will finish around 12:30, Others around 1pm-1:30pm.

ADVANCE REGISTRATION: Online entry fee $45. Southeast New England Chess Association is a non-profit organization.
