Our Speakers

Relocation; no more Payne?

Damian Garrido QC

Barrister, Harcourt Chambers

Called in 1993. Described in the Legal 500 as “excellent and tenacious” and “a robust and measured advocate”, Damian is a leading family law specialist appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2015. He has particular expertise in financial applications where complexities arise due to the nature and value of the parties’ assets and sources of income (e.g. private businesses or family trusts), bankruptcy, third-party intervention and/or an international element. His children law practice is wide-ranging, encompassing the difficult and sensitive area of child abduction (both Hague and non-convention cases) and the domestic and international relocation of children. He is a co-author of Relocation: A  Practical Guide (Jordans), the second edition of which will be available later this year.

Home and Away: Schedule 1 and Child Support, the Maintenance Regulation and beyond

Louise Potter

Barrister, Harcourt Chambers

Harcourt Chambers

Called in 1993. A highly experienced family practitioner, Louise increasingly specialises in more complex and high net worth asset financial cases, a specialism developed on a career-long ancillary relief practice. She retains a smaller private and public law children cases practice, the latter being of the more serious and involved type. A contributing editor to Butterworths Family Law Service, Louise’s chapters cover financial provision for children, international enforcement of orders, recognition of overseas marriages and divorces and international adoption.

It's The Thought That Counts: Subjective intention and non-disclosure post Sharland and Gohil

Jonathan Sampson

Barrister, Harcourt Chambers

Harcourt Chambers

Called in 1997.  Recognised in directories as a leading family lawyer, Jonathan’s practice is in matrimonial finance and cohabitation and in public law cases relating to children, where his focus is on cases involving serious injury and / or conflicting medical evidence.  He has appeared in a number of reported cases, including Re T, Re H, Re P and Re W-P.
