PhD and Adèle Lafrance Robinson PhD
This 4-day training introduces the application of Emotion-Focused Family Therapy in the treatment of eating disorders across the lifespan. This treatment model represents an innovative integration of the principles and techniques of behavioral family therapy, traditional emotion-focused therapy and the New Maudsley model.
Workshop topics will include:
·The nature of emotions and ways that emotion processing becomes implicated in the development of eating disorders
· Emotion processing and emotion-focused chair work with clients and parents
·Techniques to enhance motivation for change with clients and parents
· Attachment and identity processes and their role in the development of the eating disorders
·Emotion coaching and attachment repair
Through video illustrations and activities, workshop participants will gain an understanding of how this approach can help families manage their child’s ( including adult “children”) emotional life and let go of old injuries, enabling the child to relinquish the eating disorder as a means of coping and launch into the world “back on track.” There will be an emphasis throughout the training on skill development and experiential practice.
