About the conference

In an ever-changing economy, nonprofits are finding that financial resiliency has become a survival skill and sustainability is often in question.

Organizations must remain steadfast in providing effective services to families and communities while continuously monitoring and adapting their funding streams.  As a result, many nonprofits consider social enterprise – an approach that relies on market forces and earned revenue – as a way to achieve a different income mix and lead toward greater mission impact.

This unique conference will explore areas of nonprofit resiliency such as program evaluation, financial health, and board governance.  At the same time, participants will discover the fundamental concepts of social enterprise, including business planning, fostering entrepreneurship, and securing financial capital.

Experts from around the state and nation will share their skills and experiences in building sound business plans, conducting market research, creating impactful communications strategies and more - all in an effort to strengthen central Minnesota nonprofits and help them consider whether social enterprise activities might be suitable for their organization.

This conference will serve as the official launch of the Initiative Foundation's Thriving Organizations Partnership program, the next generation of our nonprofit capacity-building efforts designed to help central Minnesota nonprofit organizations navigate the new economy.
