Speaker: Dr. Nicki Rosenhagen

Topics: 

“Traumatic Brain Injury and Shock”

In this lecture, we will review the pathophysiology of traumatic brain injury and shock and discuss relevant histories, diagnostics and management strategies.

AND

“Battling Bugs with More than Baytril - Antibiotic Use”

This lecture will provide basic information about how antibiotics work and guide the rehabilitator on when and how to select an appropriate antibiotic for use in a wild animal when a veterinarian is not available.

About Dr. Nicki Rosenhagen: 

Dr. Nicki Rosenhagen started her wildlife career as a rehabilitator with the PAWS Wildlife Center in Lynnwood, Washington before attending the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. She worked at the University’s Wildlife Medical Clinic throughout vet school and then spent an additional two years teaching at the clinic after graduating in 2015. Dr. Rosenhagen is now the full-time clinical veterinarian at PAWS, which cares for more than 5,000 animals each year, comprised of over 200 different species. Dr. Rosenhagen has been working with wildlife for nearly 14 years.

Topic: “Curious, Creepy & Common Cases in Wildlife Rehabilitation: Baby Mammals to Adult Everything!”

This interactive, live, case-based extravaganza highlights many of the intriguing case presentations we see in wildlife rehabilitation and how we work through decision-making in these cases. Some are common and some are just downright weird. The first ~45 minutes are focused on baby mammals (rabbits and squirrels!) and then the sky's the limit – case review covers all ages and all species! 

About Dr. Renée Schott: 

Dr. Schott is Medical Director and a Senior Veterinarian at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Minnesota (WRCMN), one of the largest rehabilitation centers in the country.  Renée has been involved in wildlife rehabilitation for over 15 years and she has worked at WRCMN for over 10 years. Additionally, Renée is involved in teaching courses at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine and she is a Course Instructor for the International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council. Renée is also a former member of the National Wildlife Rehabilitators Association Board of Directors.
