Kathleen Fraser, MSN, MHA, RN-BC, CCM, CRRN, Executive Director, Case Management Society of America

Kathy Fraser is the Executive Director of CMSA and also a Past President of CMSA National, and of the Houston/Gulf Coast CMSA Chapter. She has 36 years of nursing experience, 24 years of case management experience and was named the 2016 CMSA National Case Manager of the Year.  Kathy is the author of the CMSA Case Management Medication Adherence Guideline for COPD.

Mary F. Hughes is a Nationally Certified Case Manager and Baccalaureate graduate registered nurse. She has been a Case Manager for over 19 years in complex, catastrophic medical case management, specifically, brain and spinal cord injury, and including management through the spectrum of care from injury, acute treatment, rehabilitation, as well as post injury case management.

Resource Management is a direct mirror of brain injury resource case management, a specialty practice providing education, advocacy and assisting the individual by assessment of needs, locating resources, arranging  medical support services, connecting or reconnecting individuals to governmental and community based organizations.  The Resource Management program is offered to traumatic brain injury survivors, their caregivers and families at no cost.  The goal is to improve the quality of life for those survivors by assisting them to fill in the gaps of needed services,and, supporting them in their healing journey.

"Sexuality After TBI" 1.0 CE

Before becoming a Legal Nurse Consultant, Laura worked as a Registered Nurse specializing in medical intensive care, pediatric ICU, neonatal ICU; and provided ground transport for neonates. Laura remains clinically active as a nurse case manager and sits on the board of directors for Washington Medical Case Management Association. Through her participation as state liaison to the Government Affairs Committee Laura promotes health care through nationally. Laura works with complex cases including catastrophic spinal cord, and Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI). Laura has been welcomed as a presenter to organizations including Washington State Association for Justice and the former Puget Sound Legal Nurse Consultants. Engagements have included speaking on the topic of brain injury, case management, and Legal Nurse Consulting. Professional Memberships include the Brain Injury Association of Washington, Washington State Medical Case Management Association, and Pacific Northwest Neuropsychological Society.

"Traumatic Brain Injury and the Zachary Lystedt Law: Saving Lives and Preventing Preventable TBIs" 1.0 CE

Richard H. Adler is an honors graduate of Georgetown University Law Center and founding principal and partner of Adler  Giersch PS, a law firm dedicated to representing those with brain and spinal cord trauma.

Mr. Adler has served as President of the Brain Injury Alliance of Washington (BIAWA) from 2003 to 2009, and currently serves as Chairman of the BIAWA Executive Board.  As President of BIAWA led a multi-year effort organizing a powerful coalition of healthcare, businesses, sports, and community partners to enact the “Zackery Lystedt Law.”  The law, named after Mr. Adler’s client who suffered from a traumatic brain injury while playing youth football, was the nation’s first law intended to “prevent preventable brain injuries” of young athletes by requiring medical clearance before returning to practice or competition following a concussion.  Mr. Adler received the first ever award to an attorney  from the American College of Sports Medicine, the largest sports medicine and exercise science organization in the nation, for “protecting the health and safety of young athletes.”  

Mr. Adler has authored many publications including From Injury to Action: Navigating Your Personal Injury Claim and Understanding Traumatic Brain Injury: A Guide for Survivors and Families; and Spinal Trauma and the Personal Injury Case. 

Mr. Adler is a participating member of the Washington Bar Association, Washington State Association of Justice (Eagle Status), American Association for Justice, Brain Injury Alliance of Washington (BIAWA), Brain Injury Alliance of Oregon (BIAO), Traumatic Brain Injury Litigation Group, Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, and serves on the Advisory Board of the UW’s TBI Model Systems Program.

"Poster Presentations" 1.0 CE

 Attendees will have the opportunity to earn 1.0 CE by participation in the poster presentations at the exhibitor fair from 7:45am to 9:45 am and during morning and lunch breaks. It take approximately 1 hour to visit 6 poster presenting booths and you must have 6 signatures in order to turn in your participant form and receive your 1.0 CE. 

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR ALL ATTENDEES.  Payment is due at time of registration either by credit card or commitment to send check payment.
