Management of Workplace Bullying in Health Care: Tactical and Ethical Guidance for Professional Case Management 1.5 Ethics CE

Ellen Fink-Samnick MSW, ACSW, LCSW, CCM CRP

Workplace Bullying has intensified and escalated over the past decade, with the current figures staggering.This presentation explores the dynamics of bullying as they manifest across the industry. Focus will be on exploring the scope and incidence of how bullying impacts patients plus the workforce. The impact of power, leadership styles, and gender will be explored, with tools to assess those at highest risk for being bullying bosses. Models and strategies to proactively address these situations will also be presented along with ways to estimate the fiscal costs of bullying for organizations. Engage in a powerful session to provide professional case managers tactical and ethical guidance on how to confront and master this profound issue. Ellen will also provide a brief overview of the Principals of Practice and the Rules of Conduct of the CCMC Code of Professional Conduct.

Ellen Fink-Samnick is Principal of EFS Supervision Strategies, LLC. She empowers health care's transdisciplinary workforce thru professional speaking, mentoring & consultation. Ellen currently serves as a Director on the 2017-2018 CMSA National Board. She has been a commissioner for CCMC, member of their Executive Committee, and Chair of their Ethics and Professional Conduct Committee. She sits on the Editorial Advisory Board for the Professional Case Management Journal, and is moderator of Ellen’s Ethical Lens on LinkedIn. She is a vibrant professional voice.

 "Nutrition Support Therapy: Qualifying your Patients for the Transition Home" 1.5 CE

Devon R. Toia, MS, RD, CD, CNSC

Enteral and parenteral nutrition therapies can be complicated not only for the patient, but also for arranging their discharge home. Learn the important considerations that need to be addressed when transitioning your patients with nutrition support to home infusion services, as well as, the reimbursement criteria that must be met for Medicare coverage of this specialized therapy. Ensure a safe and smooth transfer for your patients on specialized nutrition support and learn the role of the home infusion team who can help you provide the services that your patients need in the comfort of their own homes.

Devon R. Toia is a nutrition support dietitian who works with enteral and parenteral nutrition patients to optimize nutrition provision and support in the home setting at Option Care, the nation’s largest independent provider of home and alternate treatment site infusion services. In addition to her experience in specialized nutrition care in the home, Devon also has five years of experience practicing in the inpatient hospital setting with a focus in critical care nutrition.
