Indigenous Innovations

Teachers attending this 3-day colloquium will examine the impact of Indigenous people in shaping the technology that has propelled America forward Since Time Immemorial. This colloquium will examine how contributions from Indigenous peoples have shaped generations of innovators and inventors. An NCHE team including a historian and education specialist will model strategies for using primary sources to engage students, build historical thinking skills, and construct knowledge. Explore the Museum of History and Innovation and learn to use resources from the Library of Congress collections in your classroom. Create a lesson for your students with the guidance of the NCHE team. Teachers receive a $500 stipend and a one-year membership in the National Council for History Education. Continental breakfast and lunch provided.
