Mingle with your guests and industry colleagues as Master of Ceremonies, Bruce Sellery, guides us through the evening’s events. CFA Institute representative will be in attendance to bring greetings and present the charters to Winnipeg’s newest CFA charterholders. Following a three-course meal and the presentation of the forecaster of the year awards, our Keynote Speaker Christine Ervin will enlighten us on “Investing in a Safer Climate”. Bruce will facilitate a Q & A before we wrap up the formal events and adjourn to the reception that will remain open until 10:00pm.
Bruce Sellery is a personal finance expert, author, and TV host. He has written two Globe & Mail bestselling books including, “Moolala: Why smart people do dumb things with money (and what you can do about it)”. He writes columns for Moneysense Magazine, Chatelaine and Today’s Parent and is a featured guest on media outlets across North America including Cityline, Breakfast Television, CBC Radio, MSNBC and CNN. He was a host of “The Exchange” on CBC Television, reality TV show “Million Dollar Neighbourhood” on the Oprah Winfrey Network and an anchor for the “Business News Network” in Toronto and New York City. Prior to his move into media, Bruce worked in marketing strategy at Procter & Gamble. He is an alumnus of the Governor General’s Leadership Conference, a director of the Canadian Club of Toronto, and a member of the Advisory Board for the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University, his alma mater.
CHRISTINE ERVIN, Principal, Christine Ervin/Company
Former U.S. Assistant Secretary of Energy, President & CEO, U.S. Green Building Council
Christine Ervin has led innovative collaborations to accelerate green markets for more than 25 years. As first President and CEO of the U.S. Green Buildings Council, she led its evolution from a start-up to become the highly influential coalition of industry leaders transforming the way buildings are designed, built and operated. Over her tenure, the Council launched the LEED rating system and Greenbuild conference. Christine received USGBC’s leadership award in 2004 and 2014.
As Assistant Secretary of Energy for President Clinton, Christine directed $1 billion in annual investments for clean technologies and oversaw dozens of programs comprising the President’s Climate Change Action Program. Initiatives included private sector partnerships to finance and deploy clean energy; a research roadmap on high performance buildings; actions to accelerate appliance standards and new centers for photovoltaic research and sustainable communities. Previously, she directed the Oregon Department of Energy and conducted research at the Conservation Foundation/World Wildlife Fund.
Christine has served on fiduciary and advisory boards for venture capital firms; start-up companies; national advocacy efforts; and environmental certification programs. She was a founding member of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Council and currently serves as an Ambassador for the Department of Energy’s Clean Energy, Environment and Empowerment program (C3E).
