Understanding The Impact

of Toxic Stress 

May 21st,  9:00am - 3:00pm

This presentation will provide a basic understanding of the impact that toxic stress has on brain development, behavior and relationships for people. By increasing our understanding of the types of toxic stress that people face, the impact that occurs in the brain and the brain’s response to stress, we become more informed, empathic and effective service providers.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES - Participants will

  • Be able to define complex developmental trauma.
  • Increase understanding of how complex developmental trauma impacts behavior and relationships.
  • Receive Tips and tools for implementing communication strategies and/or environmental changes that help create calming/regulating service interactions.
  • Recognize behavior as a response to stress.
  • Be prepared for more effective engagement with people.

What you can Expect on the Day of Training:

  • Check-in will begin at 8:45am and the training will start promptly at 9:00am.
  • We will break for a boxed lunch service from 12:00 - 12:30pm.
  • The session will wrap-up with Q & A and Evaluations  2:45 - 3:00pm

About Carol Taylor Trauma Informed Care Facilitator:

Carol Taylor is currently a Deputy Director at the Franklin County Family and Children First Council. As an educator and trainer, Carol works within the community to infuse information regarding trauma, toxic stress and resilience into all social service and education systems in the county.

Over the 5+ years that Carol has worked at FCFC, she has trained over 8,000 professionals in brain science.  Carol joined the staff of FCFCFC with the goal of helping all people understand behavior and relationships differently, allowing children and adults to grow, learn and live in healthy environments. During training, Carol will share the scientific facts and real life examples of ways that we can all benefit from working in developmentally respectful environments.
