Effective Succession Planning

The Wisconsin Center for Performance Excellence  in partnership with The Performance Excellence Network is pleased to host an online webinar discussion on Thursday, July 22: “Effective Succession Planning."

An average of 3 million Baby Boomers are retiring every year. In addition, 4 million American workers quit in April alone. The US labor force is on the move and is shrinking. Last discussion we focused on navigating staffing challenges; the next session we’ll explore best practices in succession planning.
Succession planning is critical for any organization: it provides leadership continuity, facilitates leadership development across the organization, and ensures consistency and sustainability of the enterprise. Today, with a growing number of leaders and professionals at all levels approaching retirement (and with overall workforce mobility starting to accelerate as we emerge from pandemic-related contraction), it has become a strategic challenge for many organizations in all sectors and industries – businesses, healthcare, education, government and other nonprofits.

During this session, you will hear how several types of organizations (a manufacturer, two service businesses, a healthcare system, and a large nonprofit) are intentionally and systematically planning their leadership succession:
  • Scott Davis, VP Operations, AMSOIL (Superior, WI)
  • Mike Frommelt, Partner, Keystone Search (Minneapolis)
  • Rachelle Schultz, CEO, Winona Health (Winona)
  • Jack Priggen, CEO, Cardinal of Minnesota (Rochester)
  • Michael Wirth-Davis, CEO, Goodwill/Easter Seals of Minnesota (St. Paul)
Each speaker will have 6-8 minutes to share their succession planning process as well as their insights and tips, and then Mike Frommelt from Keystone Search will facilitate a discussion with all speakers to answer your questions and uncover additional best practices related to succession planning, developing your next generation of leaders, career planning for your whole workforce, and sustaining culture and organizational outcomes through leadership transitions.

This session is Thursday, July 22 from 8:00-9:00 CT (optional speed networking and mingling 7:45-8:00), using Zoom MEETING.  Grab your coffee and breakfast, and join us for a rich discussion.  Free for PEN/SPAC/WCPE members; $20 for non-members.
