Summer Roosters

cock-a-doodle-doo

with Melanie Stanley

Come and have fun while learning to draw and paint a summer roosters on canvas with Melanie Stanley, award-winning artist and art instructor.  In this class she will explore and discuss summer roosters scenes. There will be an emphasis on how to paint a background, how to sketch in a rooster that looks authentic, and then how to layer the paint down so that the colors work well together!

About the Teacher:

Melanie Stanley

She has a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education (Fine Arts), a Master of Arts in Special Education, and endorsements in Social Studies and K-12 School Administration.  With 40 years of experience teaching children, teenagers, and adults she has loved encouraging the arts throughout her life.  Melanie worked as an assistant principal and enjoyed sharing art experiences with all of her students.  She has taught in both Maryland and Virginia, and in the last five years has taught fine arts (drawing, painting, collage, equestrian art, watercolor, art journaling, and mixed media) in Winchester, Leesburg, and Herndon.  Melanie is a member of the Reston League of Artists and the Shenandoah Council for the Arts. She likes teaching mixed media because it welcomes fresh, unique ideas while encouraging the artist to truly explore the possibilities with a variety of art materials/tools and techniques.  She exhibits in galleries throughout Virginia, has won 5 awards for her artwork (including two Juror’s Choice Awards and a Second Place Award), facilitates ART TALK (Local artists who meet monthly at Art Space), works in her home studio, and continues to enhance her expertise by taking numerous art classes and workshops.  Melanie has written six children’s books that have been published and enjoys writing and creating art…and inspiring others to find their artistic voice!
