YAA Member's Camp Fee (Fir and above): $150*
Your child's spot will not be held and discounts will not apply until full tuition is paid or you have made direct contact with YAA staff about your payment options.
* Due to statewide minimum wage increase for 2017, prices have gone up to match increased instructor salaries
To reduce confusion the Yakima Area Arboretum has moved to a school-grade limit to determine camp readiness for your child. We will only allow campers that have completed a full year of Kindergarten and are going into the 1st grade to attend camp. Campers can expect to walk 2+ miles a day during camp.
*Due to large demand this year, we do not have any funds left in our scholarship account at the moment. Please feel free to send in applications to be put on the waitlist in case of future funds, applications are put in order of first received so please do not wait!*

Each child is required to have a completed "Health and Registration Form" on file with the Arboretum staff before starting camp. Download the form here or pick one up in the Arboretum's Jewett interpretive Center. Turning these forms in early will help us better serve your child/children.

The Yakima Area Arboretum is committed to offering first rate environmental education to our Nature Day Campers. We believe that facilitating positive outdoor experiences while developing an understanding of local ecology can yield a powerful and lasting educational experience that helps create more informed, sensitive, and thoughtful citizens. We strive to provide a collaborative learning environment that blends the arts, sciences, and playfulness, that actively engages the hearts, hands, and minds of our students
The themes for the 2017 summer camp season are listed below. These themes will help guide the games, lessons, activities, and exploration of each camp week to offer a wider variety for multi-week campers and a more focused week based on your child's interest.
Camp tuition includes a T-shirt and twice daily snacks.

2017 Camp Themes:
Art & Nature - 1st through 7th Graders
Campers will be inspired to create art through nature. Lessons include different methods artists use to create art that is inspired by nature and created with objects found in nature.
Weeks: COMPLETED FOR 2017 SEASON
Water World - 1st through 7th grade
Campers will get wet this summer with a week of water exploration. Discover the critters that live in our water, learn where our water comes from, and cool off with water inspired games.
Weeks:
Leap, Slither, & Crawl - 1st through 3rd Graders
Explore the smaller creatures of the Yakima Area Arboretum. Campers spend their days looking for creatures that might be leaping, slithering, or crawling through the trees.
Weeks:
Survivor - 4th through 7th Graders
Campers learn what it takes to survive in the wilderness. Learn how to create a survival shelter, how to use a compass, purify water for drinking, build a fire, and identify native plants and animals.
Weeks:
Nature in Motion - 1st through 5th grade
Campers spend the week outside moving, playing, and letting loose. Learn how fun it can be; being active outdoors while learning a thing or two about our natural world in this high energy camp.

Team Building & Leadership - 6th through 9th Graders
Becoming a leader is not an easy task. Campers learn how to work as a team and develop their leadership skills in this outdoor-based camp through activities, team challanges, games, and lessons.

If you need to cancel your child's Nature Day Camp session for any reason, please contact us immediately. If the session is cancelled with at least 21 days notice you will receive a full refund minus a $30 processing fee. If the session is cancelled with less than 21 days, no refund will be given
