Introduction to Hunting Wild Edible Mushrooms

There is more to mushrooms than those buttons you can get down at the grocery store, your local forest has so much more to offer!

Let us introduce you to the wonderful world of wild mushroom hunting, where you can find choice edible mushrooms that you would normally only see on the menu of a high-end restaurant. Through this class, you can learn some basic tips on how to get started, including helpful supplies, a brief look at some of the more prized edible mushrooms (and areas to find them), and some ideas on how to prepare and cook what you find.

For the Saturday following the class (May 14), you are welcome to register for the Yakima Valley Mushroom Society's Spring Mushroom Foray for an additional $10. Time and location to meet will be announced at the class. Expect to meet early in the morning on Saturday if you plan on coming to the foray, and dress for the weather and hiking on rough terrain!

If you're into mushroom hunting but don't where to go, this is the perfect class for you to help get you started. Join the Yakima Valley Mushroom Society to get more information about mushrooms in our area, where to find them, and even what to cook with them!
