Moving Into Meditation Embodied Mindfulness   Half-Day Retreat

Online via Zoom: 8 am-12 pm PT; optional additional teachers’ session 12:30-1:30 pm

In the midst of the holiday rush, slow down and press the pause button. Our December half-day retreat will focus on somatic meditation skills that open up a sense of spaciousness in the body, breath, heart, and mind. We’ll use gentle movement and sustained postures to release deep layers of habitual holding, bracing, and contraction, making room for the breath to move more freely. Through skillful attunement to the breath, we'll incline the nervous system toward openness and ease, supporting the ability to meet life with more kindness and less clinging.

Every Moving Into Meditation Half-Day Retreat includes:

*a nourishing, embodied exploration of a dharma/yoga theme

*Gentle guided meditation-in-motion--accessible to all bodies and primarily drawn from the yoga tradition—with an emphasis on increasing sensitivity, grounding and settling the nervous system, and unwinding the patterns of tension that can impede our capacity to relax into open presence

*breath and energy practices that cultivate and support relaxed and awake attention

*mindfulness meditation guidance and practice (sitting, standing, and lying down)

*dharma reflections and conversation

*open time for rest, walking, or tea

*an optional additional session for mindfulness/mindful yoga teachers and teachers-in-training to explore bringing these practices into their own teaching
