Are You Ready to Start Your Own Business? - Carlsbad

This program is for entrepreneurs who are just starting out and looking to gather information about the score of work involved in establishing a new busienss. Focus is placed on understanding what it takes to start a busines, and the advantages and disadvanteages of owning your own business.
 
Topics also covered are the critical success factors in keeping a new business alive, consideration of buying an existing business or franchise versus starting one from scratch, and alternatives such as home-based and online businesses.
 
This program is a precursor to SCORE workshops and our one-on-one counseling. It is fast-paced and covers business plans, licensing and regulatory issues, finance and marketing, among other topics. After the session, attendees have the opportunity to schedule follow-up counseling and/or sign up for future workshops.

During his 27 year career as a U.S. Army officer, Alex attained Fellowship in the American College of Healthcare Executives and served as chief operating officer and chief executive officer of hospitals and other organizations within the military healthcare system worldwide. As a leader and manager in both line and staff organizations his specialized expertise focused on strategic planning, organizational design and analysis, and leadership and management development. Following his retirement, Alex transitioned into the field of business brokerage. He owned and operated a brokerage firm where he consulted with and represented buyers and sellers of a wide variety of enterprises.

 
Ron Woodhill
Ron is the former President and Chairman of R. W. Smith and Company, CA, and former President of Allied Buying Corporation, IL. His expertise and specialties relate to all aspects of distribution, marketing and sales in the commercial food service industry. A graduate of the Owner/ President Management Program Harvard School of Business, Ron has served on various boards of directors, including the Bank of Rancho Bernardo, CA and the Food Equipment Distributors Association, IL. Through his involvement with SCORE, Ron brings to San Diego business owners and entrepreneurs rich learnings, real life experiences, great ideas and valuable insights for a profitable business.
