Will You Make Money? Will You Finish Your Plan?

The final workshop session focuses on two key elements – will you make money and will you finish your plan.  You will be given a financial planning template and participate in an interactive look at the effects of varying cost and revenue assumptions.  The workshop also explores:

  • The universal language of number, cash, P&L and Balance Sheet, fixed and variable expenses. 
  • Obligations to investors, whether the money is coming from just you, family and friends or a lending institution.
  • Adviceon refining goals and writing an enticing executive summary
  • Pitfalls to avoid in finishing your plan
  • 10 questions to ask about your plan
  • How SCORE can help you finish your plan   


John Batt spent his early years as an auditor in the United Kingdom followed by thirteen years’ of experience working at a UK subsidiary of the Aluminum Company of Canada where he became the Commercial Director responsible for accounting, administration and product distribution. He transferred to the United States as an accounting manager for the Consumer Export division of The Pillsbury Company where he was appointed as Director of Finance – International/Ice Cream Division nine years later. John led the due diligence team in Pillsbury’s acquisition of Bumble Bee Seafoods and eventually transferred to Bumble Bee where he became CFO and Treasurer and eventually President and CEO.

Art Northover has forty years of experience in the diesel engine industry with responsibility and comfort in marketing, sales, service, operations, and distribution.    He stared as a clerk at Detroit Diesel Corporation and ultimately managed high growth operations for multiple international companies including VP of Parts and Service for DEUTZ Corporation, with responsibility for North and South America.  While working at a career he earned his BA, Management at St. Mary’s College of California and an MBA from Pepperdine.  In addition to volunteering with SCORE, Art has been a Crew Leader for Habitat for Humanity in Georgia and a Tax Aide for AARP in California.  In addition, while living in Georgia, he earned a Mini- MBA in Finance from Georgia State.
