Start-Up Series: Where's the Money and How to Find It

Need Money?

Almost all businesses require an infusion of money at some time to start, maintain, or grow. This workshop describes various funding sources and specific criteria used to evaluate funding requests. A SCORE mentor will explain the process for SBA guaranteed loans, as well as talk about local organizations that provide loans to start-ups and exisiting businesses.  Also get tips on crowd-funding, friends and family loans and equity investments from Angel Investors and when Venture Capitalists come in.

A Finance expert will help you learn about:

  • Loan Application Packaging
  • Alternate Funding Sources
  • Micro Loans, Bank Loans, Angel Investors and Venture Capital
  • Real Estate Loans
  • Working Capital for Start-Ups and Existing Businesses
  • SBA Policies and Procedures
  • What you need to do as a borrower
  • Where to go for advice

It's frustrating to go from one bank to another and not get the answers you need. This workshop will explain your options and help you to get that loan!

Presenters:

Michael Sedloff helps start-up and existing businesses turn good ideas into great profitable performance.  He built Southland Equities from a one-person local start-up into a highly profitable business. After 23 years, he sold it to a national bank which was and still is the largest originator of home loans in the U.S.  Michael draws from his experience in planning, strategizing, selling, managing, hiring and training employees, negotiating leases, complying with regulatory requirements and finding financing to help clients be successful.

Paul Sipe has over thirty years in the commercial banking business. He organized and started two locally owned banks in the east San Diego County. He also has a diverse background in commercial, industrial, and residential real estate, including sales, leasing, and financing. He has his own consulting business, specializing in construction financing, mergers and acquisitions, long-term leasing, and turn-around evaluations. He served as a NASD arbitrator for over twelve years and has an above average knowledge of the securities business.

Rosalinda Delgado is a microlending professional with Accion that provides business loans to San Diego’s small businesses unable to access capital from their bank. Accion's new rapid loan provides up to $8K in less than 5 days.

Miriam Torres is a Loan Officer with CDC Small Business Finance providing loans from $20K to $250K for small businesses. CDC say’s yes when other lenders have said no. CDC's philosophy is that they are gudied by reason versus rule.
