Awareness Through Movement (ATM) at Hill Center

Awareness Through Movement
® (ATM) explores how we move and improves the quality of our movement. Through simple, structured lessons, we improve flexibility, range of motion, balance, and power. ATM lessons work for anyone from couch potatoes to Olympic athletes through slow, attentive movements that are paced to the learner. Students report improvements to chronic pain as well as rediscovering a childlike joy in movement. Come explore your neck, spine, shoulders, hips and knees with us and learn how to walk, sit, stretch, and play better. You will discover new, effortless mobility after each lesson.

Our lessons often start on the floor -- someone walking in might think we were doing Yoga -- but we'll focus on movement, not postures. Our goal is to make the impossible, possible; the possible, easy, and the easy, elegant. As you explore the simple motions of each step of the lesson, you may be surprised at what you learn about yourself.

Awareness Through Movement takes the opposite approach to "No Pain, No Gain." We apply the Judo principle of Maximum Efficiency with Minimum Effort. We'll explore how little it takes to move more gracefully, smoothly, confidently, powerfully. We focus on learning how to do less and get a better result.

We've done these lessons with everyone from children to octagenarians. This series is geared towards students 16 to 106. Your current capacities don't matter -- what matters is your willingness to explore how we might reorganize your body and your movement together.

Join this series and begin a new relationship with your body. Fall in love with movement again!
