Summit Itinerary

     General Session with Expert Speakers 

Dr. Hatim Omar will discuss teen development and the major factors influencing teen behavior. We will discuss some examples of teen risk taking such as choking game, inhalant use and so on and possible ways to prevent poor outcomes.

Dr. Thomas Andrew will address the difficulty in proper epidemiological analysis of this phenomenon due to the variability in classification of fatal cases and the lack of a specific diagnostic code used for vital records coding purposes. He may also briefly discuss how to approach the medical examiner or coroner when parents have questions about how a given death is certified. 

Dr. Robin Toblin will discuss the initial 2008 CDC study of deaths from the choking game using newspaper reports and will then discuss other research that has been done since that time and the pros and cons of different methodologies for assessing choking game behavior.

Registration will be accepted by mail and online. No phone registrations will be taken. Online registrations are for credit card/Paypal Account payments only. Please send all check or money order registrations by postal mail to: "2012 Summit" c/o The DB Foundation, PO BOX 351787, Palm Coast, FL 32135-1787  BY MAIL:  Please make checks payable to "The DB Foundation, Inc."  Payment must accompany the registration form available at www.ChokingGame.net   Registrations received without payment will not be processed and priority registration will not apply until payment is received.  The registration fee demonstrates your committment to attend.  DBF has been awarded funds through the Pepsi Refresh Everything grant to host this conference.  We will exhaust all grant funds first and registration fees second.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
  •  100% Refunds will be given only if cancellation is received in writing by mail, fax, or e-mail on or before May 1, 2012.
  • 50% Refund will be given only if cancellation is received by June 8, 2012.
  • No refunds will be processed after June 8, 2012.
REFUND POLICY:
If monies received in Committment Registrations exceeds the monies required beyond the Pepsi Refresh Everything grant funds to hold the conference, refunds will be issued.
