CTI SRET and Civil Rights/Racial Equity Trip Reception
Thursday, Sept. 5, 4:30-6:30 pm, Johnson C. Smith University
CTI Friends,
Please join us on Thursday, Sept. 5, to celebrate and learn about CMS teachers' research this summer in five university research laboratories, as well as stories from 28 CMS teachers who participated in the 2019 Civil Rights/Racial Equity trip this summer. CTI is hosting our 2019 SRET and Civil Rights/Racial Equity trip reception and poster session from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Johnson C. Smith University's STEM Hall/New Science Building. The reception is open to the public and refreshments will be served.
Seven CMS teachers worked on teams in five labs led by professors at UNC Charlotte, Johnson C. Smith University, and Queens University of Charlotte. At this September reception, SRET teachers, professors and graduate assistants will share poster presentations and discuss their powerful collaborative research, and how it translates to their classrooms and their students. Read more about SRET here.
Additionally, 28 CMS teachers traveled on a 4-day, 3-night journey to visit historical sites and museums in Montgomery, AL; Selma, AL; Jackson, MS; and Birmingham, AL. This trip was led by retired CMS History Teacher and CTI Fellow Larry Bosc, and sponsored by CTI and the CMS Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Read more about Larry's reflections and the trip here.
PARKING: See the JCSU campus map here. The largest parking area is next to Brayboy Hall-Gymnasium (Bldg. #21) around the back of the campus. This is the main parking lot where there’s usually plenty of space. You can also park in unresesrved spaces in front of and near the STEM Hall. (Bldg. #50).
We look forward to sharing these outstanding examples of collaborative research in K-20 education with you!
Cheers,
Scott
