Meet the Trainer:

Vanessa Klodnick is an expert in young adult peer support and incredibly passionate about creating communities that embrace and support the young adult peer mentor role. Vanessa has trained hundreds of mental health professionals in transition-age youth best-practices in the last decade through her work at Thresholds, the largest community mental health provider in Illinois, and the UMASS Transitions to Adulthood Center for Research. She leverages real life experience as a (1) supervisor of young adults in peer roles, (2) consultant with multiple states and organizations in how to integrate young adults in peer roles effectively, & (3) researcher who studies what it means to be a young adult peer support provider and how to best support young people in these roles. Vanessa developed a Guidebook for Supervisors and multiple related in-person and online trainings, as well as, was a co-author on “Effectively Employing Young Adults in Peer Roles: A Toolkit” with Dr. Jonathan Delman. Vanessa’s trainings are fun, provocative and informative – and not to be missed.

Online & Live Young Adult Peer Mentor Supervisor Round Tables

  • Are you a supervisor of young adult peer mentors?
  • Want to develop your knowledge and skill in supervising young adult peer mentors?
  • Interested in boosting transition-age youth and young adult engagement & outcomes through supporting your staff in leveraging their lived experience?

Join the Children’s Behavioral Health Knowledge Center at the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health for a 3-part supervision roundtable series.

This series will feature “live supervision sessions” where attendees will have the opportunity to observe a supervisor conducting mock supervision sessions with young adult peer mentors. These sessions will be held via video conference.

The first two roundtables will highlight common sticky situations in supervising young adults in peer roles and introduce tools that supervisors can use to support young adults in peer roles with navigating and preventing sticky situations.

The final roundtable will be an online group supervision session where supervisors can bring their own challenging supervisory issues that they would like consultation on.
