"I like her, but the only thing she ever does is show up for board meetings." Sound familiar? Too many board members seem to see their role as nothing more than showing up, voting to adopt the minutes, asking a probing question about the financials, and moving for adjournment. But governance is not a once-a-month proposition. To be effective, work must be happening throughout the month, usually in a committee format.
