Do you supervise caregivers or other team members who provide direct care, or do you provide support to individuals living with dementia?

A PAC Certified Independent Coach uses the knowledge, awareness, and skills of their team, and develops them; helping to take their staff to the next level. If you will have the ability to spend time supporting and guiding staff or team members in care delivery and client engagement and want to foster this type of culture change in your environment, this is the course for you.

Professionals who may benefit from this training include Memory Care Program Directors, Resident Care Directors, CNAs, and Social Workers in leadership positions, Staff Education Directors, Adult Day Program Directors, and Executive Directors.

PAC Coach Certification class size is an intimate, skill-building event. Thus, it is limited to 25 participants in each location.

Qualifications for registration:

  • Minimum of one-year of experience in a health-related field or equivalent
  • Minimum of six months dementia related experience or equivalent
  • Review of three or more Teepa Snow videos or participation in a seminar, workshop or webinar

COURSE OVERVIEW

1.  PRE-COURSE WORK

The following work must be completed before attending the onsite workshop:

  •  Seven hours of documented, online video training featuring Teepa Snow (access to the training website is provided after acceptance into the training program)
  •  Successful completion of self-assessments (quizzes) related to video training
2.  ONSITE CLASSROOM WORKSHOP

The following 2-day workshop is conducted onsite:

Through an intense and interactive process of mentoring and self-review, you will gain the skills needed to help your team members shift from simply dealing with the behaviors of those they care for, to creating a positive and caring environment.

Day 1: Positive Care Skills Review and Practice / 8:30am - 5:00pm. A Lead PAC Mentor guides the review and practice of effective partnering techniques including Positive Physical Approach™ and Hand-under-Hand.

Day 2: Becoming an Effective Coach and Leader / 8:00am - 5:00pm. Teepa Snow and the PAC Mentor team provides an in-depth look into the elements of effective coaching. These elements include: 1) Considering how your actions and intentions come across to those around you; 2) Learning to provide non-judgmental feedback, using questioning techniques to help others identify solutions and actions; and 3) Learning to apply new techniques to improve outcomes and foster accountability among team members

3.  POST-WORKSHOP FOLLOW UP

Following the workshop, participants work one-on-one with a PAC Mentor to complete certification:

PAC knows that unless we practice, new knowledge and skill will not become habits. PAC Coach follow up is designed to help you drill the skills into habits, and help you learn how to self-assess for future growth. This requires timely follow-up and completion of multiple steps within an eight-week period. Learners become certified after successfully completing all follow up requirements. The individual must demonstrate a solid understanding of material, PAC Care partnering skills, and coaching skills.

Training and Certification Fee of $1,900 (non-refundable*) include:

    • Continued access to PAC training website Seeing If From the Other Side videos
    • Specially designed Coaching videos for your learners to view
    • Training manual with presentation and classroom materials
