Content Area Vocabulary Signs: Signing in the Mainstream Classroom & Application of Conceptual Signing

Speaker: Meena Mann, Ed.S Outreach Consultant

Target Audience: Educational interpreters and anyone working with deaf/hard of hearing students are encouraged to attend.

Description:

Educational Interpreters and educators of the deaf/hard of hearing are faced with a variety of challenges daily.  One challenge being faced is how to sign core content material in order to ensure comprehension and retention of content material being taught.  This workshop will focus on:

  • The use of space and classifiers when singing to convey content conceptually
  • Utilize key terms and concepts using American Sign Language
  • Gain confidence in American Sign Language
  • Expand vocabulary signs

Presentation language:  ASL with English/voice interpreting will be provided.  If any other accommodations are needed please complete the box below and submit by Nov. 14th

At CKSEC, we love kids and families! Unfortunately, due to liability issues and professional decorum, children and other family members or friends are not permitted to attend our trainings.

Please get permission from CKEC prior to video or audio recording a portion or all of a CKEC session. 

Please dress in layers as it can be difficult to adjust the temperature.

Attendance Policy:

If you register to attend a session, but find you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration as early as possible. Space is limited and by canceling you will allow others to benefit from these highly qualified professional development opportunities. A fee could be assessed for no shows.

Districts will be notified of those who registered and did not attend or did not cancel prior to be session.
