Mathematics Teach Leader Initiative, 7-20-16, & 10-18-16

Speaker: Mark Helton

Target Audience:  Current and aspiring mathematics teacher leaders (general and special education) from all grade levels, math department chairs, math coaches, school/district administrators

Description:  Building capacity of teacher leaders is vital to the continuing improvement of a school/district mathematics program.  This initiative is designed to provide teacher leaders the tools needed to help think systemically about the teaching and learning of mathematics in their schools.  Principles to Actions: Ensuring Mathematical Success for All (NCTM, 2014) will be used as a guide to explore practices for strengthening the teaching of mathematics and critical elements of a mathematics program.  The initiative will focus on the development of the participants as instructional and PLC leaders, building collaborative partnerships with special education and gifted/talented teachers, establishing a growth mindset, networking with peers, and more!
